A bespoke, in-home service with you at the centre
Restorative postpartum care rooted in holistic wisdom
Exceptional postpartum support, designed around you
Postpartum support in Canterbury will look different for every mother. Afterall, you’re the expert on yourself.
That’s where bespoke, mother-centred postpartum support comes in.
Holistic -The postpartum experience isn’t one dimensional. My support sees you as a whole, complex human being, encompassing physical and emotional support as you navigate your identity shift into motherhood.
Non-medical - My support responds to the gaps our medical system can’t fill. This includes massage, breathwork, practical household help, and emotional holding.
Compassionate - Mothering in our individualistic, bounce-back culture can be stressful. As your postpartum doula, my practice is defined by dignity, respect, and honouring the monumental life-change that you’re experiencing.
Canterbury’s holistic postpartum doula
Hello, I’m Abigail.
I’m a Canterbury-based postpartum doula, offering deeply nurturing postpartum support to mothers in the first days, weeks, and months postpartum.
My care is rooted in traditional postpartum practices from around the world and throughout history. I’m a fully accredited MotherBreath® facilitator, and I’m currently working towards qualifying as a Holistic Postpartum Practitioner with the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.
When you invite me into your postpartum window, you can expect care informed by generations of holistic postpartum wisdom:
Gentle massage
Folk herbalism
Breathwork for nervous-system, core, and pelvic floor recovery
Emotional holding
Breastfeeding support
Baby care support that prioritises the mother-baby dyad
Support with older children
Nourishment
(and yes, I’ll wash your dishes too!)
Abigail brought a wealth of wisdom, warmth and care in a time postpartum when we needed it most. She was a total lifeline, nourishing us with thoughtful food, drink and massage, and armed with knowledge to answer any new parent questions we might have. After a difficult birth she helped us feel so much lighter and better supported and I couldn’t recommend her enough.

Designing your postpartum support pathway
Just like you, every postpartum experience is unique. Here’s what the journey could look like for you:
1) You recognise your need for postpartum support. This might happen before you give birth, or months down the line. Most mothers prefer to plan ahead for the life changing experience of postpartum, therefore I recommend booking in advance if you have the choice. However, if you find yourself needing support after birth, it’s never too late to reach out.
2) You want to find out if my support is right for you. Through a one-to-one phone call, we can get to know each other and discuss the kind of support you’re looking for. I’ll send you a few notes on our conversation, so that you can make the decision that feels right for you.
3) Together, we’ll make a postpartum plan unique to you. Over two pre-birth postpartum planning sessions, we’ll create a detailed plan that will work best for your family.
4) I step in to support you. Whether this be hours after you give birth, or months later, I’ll show up to provide the kind of holistic support that allows you to truly rest and recover.
A traditional philosophy of postpartum care
As your postpartum doula, I offer warmth, dignity, and practical care in your own home. My work draws on wisdom from around the world and throughout history, centring your healing, rest, replenishment, and bond with your baby.
Because when a mother thrives, her baby, family, and entire community thrive too.
